Well, technically it\u2019s still summer, but our hours and programming have shifted into their autumn colors, fueled by pumpkin spice and the anticipation of our annual foliage spectacular. This time of year presents incredible opportunities for exploration and adventure. With cooler temps and the lowering sun, enjoyable activities include e-biking on the rail trail, paddling on our local rivers, ponds, reservoirs, or lakes, or a round of disc golf on one of our top five nationally ranked courses. Most notably, our local mountain hiking is hitting full stride. It\u2019s also a great way to get your legs ready for the upcoming ski season. Our resort village sits perfectly located at the base of the much-loved Smugglers\u2019 Notch Pass, repeatedly named one of the best places in the world to see fall foliage. Our \u201cViews from the Notch\u201d blog will share frequent updates on the changing colors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a8d25a4099164deba302fee3b9aea4d1\">If you\u2019re not familiar with foliage stages, they\u2019re generally classified as:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9f6c292617e3520e2eca5ba4fefcf338\"><strong>Early<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Mostly green with hints of color<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eb1107ba2917d0cdf16f6576b06374c2\"><strong>Middle<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 A vibrant mix of green and red<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c309aa7a005bafa44ba2745b685f0f3d\"><strong>Peak<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Full blaze of autumn color<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-24c2df3f3e17225459111f0f10797b1f\"><strong>Past<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Rustic, golden tones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cd3644c7bf18a3fbd6aec7ec84c6934c\">Each phase has its own beauty. Personally, I love Early-Middle, when the full canopy of green is dotted with brilliant red highlights, the contrast is spectacular. Locally, we often expect &#8220;peak&#8221; around the first week of October, though this year\u2019s drier summer could mean an earlier arrival.
